about us
Welcome to The Great Lodge, one of Canada's largest log buildings in a
region steeped in our early history. Located on the shores of Georgian
Bay near Christian Island and the site of the first Jesuit mass in
Ontario, The Great Lodge is owned by descendants of Susanna Moodie and Catharine Parr Trail, pioneers immortalized as the Sisters in the Wilderness. The
Great Lodge is part family compound, part museum, and on rare
occasions each season opened up to guests for memorable occasions.
The Great Lodge is 14,000 square feet, located on a 5 acre property and complete with eight bedrooms, a chef’s kitchen, an English-style pub, gym, home theatre, outdoor garden patio, multiple balconies and hot tub. A step outside the Great Lodge’s impressive interior reveals a meandering stone pathway through a cedar woodland, stream and garden towards a private beach with a panoramic view of beautiful Georgian Bay.
