Located 90 minutes from Toronto’s international airport, The Great Lodge provides a convenient location for far-flung families that make a point of getting together at a memorable location every 5 or 10 years, or to mark special occasions, such as a 25th wedding anniversary. This is when young children might get to meet their cousins, aunts and uncles for the first time, and when everyone renews their bonds by sharing anecdotes and the family history. Small children who wish to sleep near their parents will be cheered by day beds and trundle beds can be wheeled within the parents’ bedroom, or to adjoining spaces where they will be within earshot.
The Great Lodge offers outdoor amenities for family members of all ages – watercraft and water sports in summer, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter -- at our 5 acres of forest and private beach or at nearby facilities, such as Awenda Provincial Park, Tiny Trail and legendary Christian Island, where snorkelers can explore the Mapledawn, a 350-foot shipwrecked freighter 12 to 20 feet deep. Historic tourist attractions include the Martyrs’ Shrine, Saint-Marie Among the Hurons, the Huron Ouendat Village and the Huronia Museum.
Children may also enjoy The Great Lodge’s indoor amenities, which includes a games room, a multi-machine fitness gym and a theatre stocked with movies and TV shows.
